There Are Many Types of Goals

December 9, 2009

Great nostaliga here. The video that my brother and I grew up on. Our emotional education in beautiful football starts here. For those of you who remember it here is part one of ‘The Worlds Greatest Goals: From Charlton to Maradona’

‘Campus’ arrives!

November 2, 2009

Well poor old Goodintheair has been neglected much of late because I’ve been in an underground lair with the amazing Victoria Pile editing ‘CAMPUS’ which is on tele this Friday, 6th November at 10pm on C4… Its the first in C4’s much vaunted Comedy Showcase and I certainly hope you like it… Working with the wonderful Victoria Pile and her brilliant teammates Rob Harley, Gary Parker, Charlie Leech, Caroline Leddy, Oriane Messina, Fay Rusling, James Henry and Richard Preddy has been nothing short of an absolute delight this past few months…I say this not only because its true but also because the only people reading this blog may be people who google Campus and Green Wing and Victoria Pile, and the only people likely to google those words may in fact be those lovely friends of mine above… So if you find yourself here lovely friends KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU!!!!

Of course it is possible that someone in the world may stumble upon this blog who isn’t a mate. You, the unknown person, may think that Campus is no good at all and if that is the case then unfortunately for you, you are in fact wrong. It is far from being no good at all. It may DO not good at all, but that is entirely another matter.

Here is a clip to whet your appetites. Or not, as the case may be. Hard to judge it over 90 seconds, but I hope you like it!

Federer vs Sampras

June 26, 2009

Remember they played in Wimbledon in 2001? Federer won in 5 monstrous sets. Now, in retrospect, it looks like some kind of Alien vs Predator CGI cheat, the two best players of all-time… Watch it because the quality of the tennis is something I have never seen before. I nearly cried when I watched this. SPORT.

Roddick the lovely.

June 26, 2009

Actually while I’m here watch this piece of Federer insanity but the moment is made by Roddick’s reaction. Andrew Roddick. Another very hugley talented good looking and very likeble multi-millionaire… What is it about tennis?

The Great

June 26, 2009

Taken me a month to post something so I found something truly special. Roger Federer has apparently done this on a number of occasions in his career. We are lucky people indeed to be alive when Federer and Nadal are going at it. Could you find two more likeable, decent, brilliant and honourable sportsmen? Money doesn’t necessarily confer idiocy, arrogance and hateful posturing. Gotta love em.

The Portsmouth Vernacular

May 22, 2009

A little while ago I came across this brilliant piece by young Jodie Silsby, a map of Portsmouth, which, in her words, ‘looks at the geography of the city in relation to the dialect and language that is used and has evolved in and around the city’.Excitingly a London based piece is in the offing… Look closely now to see what she has done.

A truly modestly magnificent piece of work.

Harry Gruyaert

May 22, 2009

Seeing those Penguin covers reminded me of many happy hours gliding through Magnum’s website marvelling at the many extraordinary images. Here is one, from Belgian photographer Harry Gruyaert, which has always stunned me.

Magnum + Penguin = Nice Books

May 22, 2009

I’m a fan of Magnum. I’m a fan of Penguin and I’m a fan of books. Therefore you would think I would be a fan of The Penguin Magnum Collection. I am.

Mr Glenn Garriock and his poster

May 22, 2009

Haven’t posted in a while, Life – that untameable buffalo -took over but some joy appeared in front of mine eyes this morning.  Mr Glenn Garriock, designer superb, and a founding-member of the superlative FormFiftyFive has designed many wonderful things. Much to my delight I was able to get ahold of this, Oh Eight, one of his posters, this morning… A purchase made all the more delightful by the kind and good nature of the designer himself…

Oh Eight  has been nominated in the Best Poster Category at this year’s Scottish Design Awards. Cross your limbs for him.

Its a Goal.

Ally Mccoist. Not funny as a panelist. Funny as a player. (please ignore the music on this one)
